Cataract Surgical Protocol

Your Cataract Surgery Process Step by Step

This is a guide to assist you through your surgery process and advise you on what to expect.

Step 1: Have a comprehensive eye exam by one of our Optometrists or Ophthalmologists and be diagnosed with cataracts that are mature enough for surgery.

Step 2: Talk with one of our surgery schedulers to get your measurements appointment scheduled. We can tentatively schedule your surgery date(s) at this time. You will be given a packet of information, please read this information over and write down any questions you may have in preparation for your next appointment.

Step 3: Arrive for your measurements appointment, at which time, we will measure your eye for the type of lens implant you need. This appointment is also referred to as A’s & K’s. The doctor will assess the results and discuss the options you qualify for.

Step 3: After having your measurements done, you will meet with one of our surgery schedulers. At this time, we will explain the surgery process, decide on which type of surgery you desire, sign consent forms and schedule your surgery(ies) if we haven’t already done so and schedule your post op visits.

Step 4: The day after your measurements appointment, your prescriptions will be sent in electronically to our compounding pharmacy, unless you request non-compounded drops.

Step 5: Imprimis Pharmacy will give you a call within 48 hours, if you do not hear from them, please call them at (844) 446-6979.

Step 6: Schedule your pre-op physical with your primary care physician or cardiologist.

Step 7: Have your pre-op physical sent to us via fax to 303-347-1341 if you were seen at our Parker location or 303-671-2879 if you were seen at our Denver/Lowry office.

Step 8: A week prior to surgery, you will receive a phone call from our surgery department confirming your surgery date and time. We will collect any payments that are due for the upgraded technology.

Step 9: You will receive a phone call from InSight Surgery Center reviewing your out of pocket costs for the facility fee including; co-payments, deductibles and upgraded lenses. Please be prepared to make a credit card payment over the phone.

Step 10: A nurse from our surgery center will call you to review your medical history, medications and past surgeries.

Step 11: Administer 1 drop in the eye we are operating on prior to your arrival for surgery.

Step 12: Arrive at InSight Surgery Center located at 9777 S. Yosemite St. Suite 210 Lone Tree, CO 80124 at your check in time.
